Author: Heidi Schulz
Genre: Adventure, Fantasy
What is this book about: Jocelyn Hook, proud daughter of Captain Hook, has a
mission. Wait! you say, Captain Hook? THE Captain Hook? Yes, THE
Captain Hook. You're thinking: Jocelyn Hook must be sailing the seas,
conquering lands, defeating Captains, and destroying Hook's all time
enemies: Peter Pan and Tick-tock crock, right?
WRONG.
As
of right now she is attending Miss Eliza Crumb-Biddlecomb's Finishing
School for Young Ladies. Ugh. One day, she meets a talking dodo/parrot
with a letter for her. From her dad. It says that if she is receiving
this letter, he is dead. He says that he was the most feared pirate in
the 7 seas. But in the letter he shamefully admits he was afraid of
something. The Tick-Tock Crock, his killer. He has one last request for his only offspring:
Hunt the beast and destroy it in my name. Only a few problems: Where the
heck is Neverland? How will Jocelyn leave the school? What if she can't
defeat the crock? I mean, her own father thinks she will fail. Jocelyn
must overcome her fear and get ready: or else she'll walk the plank.
Your opinion: I
liked the book a lot, and I thought it was great how the author told it
from the "bad guy's" perspective. It was cool how the "hero"(Peter Pan)
turned out to be just a snobby, vain, silly, boy. It was a great book.
However, I would have enjoyed it more if Jocelyn spent more time at the
boarding school and made a grand exit.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Who would like this book: I think people who
like twisted fairy tales (examples: Whatever After, Cinderella: My Side of the Story, Rump ) Would really like this book.
