Author: Malala Yousafzai
Genre: Autobiography
What is this book about: Malala was ten when the Taliban started to control everything her family
and her people believed in in her native county of Pakistan. The Taliban said that music was a crime. They said women should not be allowed to show their faces and must wear the veil at all times. They said that women
should not be allowed out of the house without their husbands. They said
girls were not allowed go to school. Malala had always been raised to
believe that women and men were equals. She loved school. She was most
often the top student in her class! This...strange....belief has her confused.
But the Taliban meant business. They started to bomb schools. They
began to kill people who believed in girls' education. If they saw a women out
without a husband, they would take extreme measures. The place Malala
thought was her home has been turned into a prison. No one is safe. Everyone
needs a hero to rise. With the help of God, Malala will be that hero.
Your opinion: I LOVED this book. It was a real girl power book. But I think it had
some very violent parts. I think that only 5th and up should be allowed
to read this.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Who would like this book: I think people who like biographies would like this. But this isn't your
